No 1. in China
Monday, May 26, 2008 11:00 PM This girl from Liaoning, China is now Public Enemy Number One in her homeland, and probably much of the civilised world- for her callous remarks with regards to the Sichuan tragedy. Short note: Wow wow... She's my new "idol"
Baby for sale?
8:04 PM ![]() BERLIN (AFP) - - German police said Sunday they have taken a seven month baby away from a couple in Bavaria who are under investigation after putting the child for sale on Internet auction site Ebay. The baby boy was put on sale on Tuesday at a starting price of one euro (1.58 dollars) and was withdrawn from the site around two and a half hours later, police said. There had been no offers. The mother said it was meant as a joke, but police failed to see the funny side, putting the baby into care and launching an investigation of both parents for attempted child trafficking, a statement said. * This is crazy.
Prayer needed
7:55 PM I've a intense craving for char kway tiao earlier on; After class, I went to CCK Hawker & packet a $3 packet for dinner. I savour-ed every kway tiao with such satisfaction, such an enjoyment to be able to satisfy my senseless cravings. I'm blessed. Being a Singaporean, char kway tiao has almost become part of my life. Mom is very sick now; down with high fever & all. Everytime she falls sick, I can't help but to get very worried. That the cancer will be back again. Sometime ago, she complained of a lump under her chin; I was scared stiff. But it's gone now; probably due to heatiness. Today, I acc-ed her to the clinic downstairs. Aft consultation, she said she had cravings for fizzy orange juice because she was very thirsty. She had the same cravings [when she underwent chemotherapy] ages ago. And we had no choice but to let her drink; because she insists on it. =( Pls pray for my mom to get well soon. God bless every'1 who's reading this.
Cutie angmoh babies..
Sunday, May 25, 2008 1:14 AM I'm loving every innocent smile I see. It kinda relieves stress y'know? ![]() ![]() ![]()
Projs... :(
Thursday, May 22, 2008 8:08 PM ![]() A record-breaker: We did project from 2pm till 8pm. Feeling lighter now because 80% of 1 of our project is done.. Yeah! And we're going for dinner at MAC downstairs now. Hey, that's the bad thing because MAC is so near us, getting fatter. Argh. Ciao!
People-watching
12:39 AM ![]() PS: People watch-ed today aft class in town for a short while before going to dental clinic to tighten my braces. Ouch, that hurts! Booo.. No more macs for the next few days.. Alright, on a side note, I got to 'chiong' for my projects for the next few days. It's e-learning day tmr; but I still hafta go sch for projs. This is tragic. Tragic and sad. On a happier note, at least I completed Nursing Lab theory test today; 1 sickening test striked down. Hooray. More to come next week.
Chalet
Saturday, May 17, 2008 9:16 PM ![]() Tho it was a letdown at first, but things quickly picked up and we were enjoying our chalet stay, doing crazy stuffs as usual. We had such a hard time setting up the bbq fire; such a chore; i almost gave up but Yumi & Doreen, the 2 powerpuff girls managed to set it up successfully! Kudos! We talked crap, had fun shopping, had fun watching a horror movie at a movie of 3am.. The only thing I regretted doing was, falling asleep at 4am, becuz we were actually thinking of gg to watch sunrise. Duh, wasted. Nvm, next time perhaps my 2 powerpuff girlies? Love u girls, so much. Aft chalet, D came to fetch, sweet yeah? Went for a quick breakfast before I went to his place to rest, and study for my nursing lab theory paper. It's always so nice to see u aft so many days of not seeing you. Sweets. Coming week will be very busy, so I might not be able to update my blog. Pls bear with me friends? Coming fri, sat & sun will be a project marathon with Jasmine, Doreen and Manisha, 2 projs to clear off before presentation on Mon. Lesser time to spend with my D, but thank God he's very understanding & all, which I totally appreciate. [Promise to make it up to u other times k?] Pity Manisha, because I understand that as a mother, I know she's feeling very guilty now because she's unable to spend time with husband & children. But, in this course, u've to make sacrifices, at least for 2 yrs. And at last, I hope my request for exemption for statistics module for yr 2 will be approved [as I've studied tt in NP before]. I swear that I've forgotten all my stats stuffs and there's a deep fear within me that if it's not approved, I might have to face stats all over again, which is a real nightmare. Terror. Fear. Ahhhh.
You might be a Nurse if.....
Thursday, May 15, 2008 10:28 PM I was researching for Psychology's project when I chanced upon a very interesting site called "Nurse Sayings" and so, out of curiosity, I clicked on it and am amused by some of the funny quotes. But it's so true..it actually tickles my funny bone! Nurse Saying - "You Might Be a Nurse If..." *You think it is acceptable to use "penis" and "vagina" in a normal conversation. *You can drink a pot of coffee and still go to sleep in the morning. *You´ve ever said, "Why am I here?" *When you get a call telling you the name of your next admit and you can do the care plan before the patient gets to the floor. *You believe the definition of stress is when you wake up screaming and you realize you haven´t fallen asleep yet. *You see stress as a normal way of life. *You notice that you use more four-letter words now than before you became a nurse. *You don´t hit patients or doctors....unless absolutely necessary. *You have more T-shirts that say, "Love a nurse PRN" than plain T-shirts.
Relieving fever
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 10:47 PM My method of relieving fever is to sweat profusely. While other known methods as discussed by friends are, sitting in air con rooms and such. And hey, I still love my method the best. It has instantaneous effect and relieves fever almost a few hrs later. (U can thrw ur panadol down the bin aldr) I've been sitting in my room today, doing project from 6pm till 10pm, w/o any fan or aircon while wearing a long sleeve shirt. Yes, I achieved my aim of sweating profusely and thus, my fever is gone! Hooray..! Random pics fr earlier part of this wk: ![]() ![]() Abt the earthquake in Szechuan, I'm deeply grieved. Let's not cease praying.
Win a free ride in a police car!!
Saturday, May 10, 2008 11:17 PM Was walking around Chinatown with D aft sending my mom to a mother's day celeb dinner with my ah yi and all my cousins, when I saw this very comical and funny looking sign at the top corner of a stall. I really had to stop and couldn't help laughing... The other sign which is next to it, which is not quite visible in the picture says.. "SMILE, YOU'RE ON CAMERA!!!" That's just soo cute and creative isnt it? :P
Things to lk forward to...
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 9:28 PM Monthsaries are a time to celebrate our love and to show how much we cherish each other. Thank u for the nice sunflowers and all, which puts a smile onto my face and really made me happy fr within. Your thought of wanting to surprise me really made me feel your sincerity and touches my heart. Happy 1 mth month-sary, love. Another thing to look forward to, our Macau/Hongkong trip in my 2 weeks vacation in Oct. I guess the details are more or less settled, just need to wait for my mentor's reply for confirmation on the holiday dates. I really need a break, aft all the attachments, projects and tests. And.. Yes, I'm looking forward to our girlies's chalet on 16th May, Fri with all my 'missys' classmates! (Sun Rong, Doreen, Jeen, Jasmine, Yumi) Doreen has helped to booked a chalet and bbq pit already, and we're so gonna let our hair down and relax before we 'chiong' all the way till Week 14, aft our final exams & before we start our attachment. Yes, quite a few things for me to lk forward.. :)
My hard work paid off!!
Tuesday, May 6, 2008 10:34 PM On a side note, my hard work paid off for my Biological Science mock test. I managed to pass with 9/12 marks. Aft knowing the standard of Dr Yong's questions, at least know how to 'study' with tactics. I was so frustrated with my inability to absorb all the information that I felt like pulling my hair out y'day. Well no. Actually, I went to sleep & wake up at 6am to study again. Nursing practical test is coming real soon in Week 6 (2 more wks).. Lab technician secretly told us to focus on vital signs of patient.. (Hush) I'm still not too good in b/p. Oh, the other day we learnt how to feed a patient thrg a N.G tube. And, we're told that we'll be practicing inserting tubes into each other's stomach next sem. I'm sure there will be lotsa vomitting & all due to the insertion. Interesting eh? Anyway here're some random pics we took during nursing practical the other day. Oh, our tutor's not around so we can take these pics in the lab! Admist the stress, we still have fun and crazy times.. Yumi (being very excited) with Dummy Mary:
Me and my partner, Jialing for that night: This was taken during sociology tut jus now: I know I am damn boliao. Gooooood night... Feels better aft ranting in my blog!!
Keep fighting the battle
9:45 PM When the stress's getting on top of you, you feel you just can't seem to move on anymore. But to the people around you, you have to act as if you can. There's too many things to 'ja-ga' at the same time. Everyone's busy with their own life, it's so hard to find a gd friend or two to have a good heart to heart talk sometimes. You just feel like letting go of a sigh or two sometimes, to make the pressure get away. And when it doesn't, you shut yourself in your room and let all the well-hidden tears rush down. Thanks Yumi, for your encouragement. It's nice to be able to talk with someone in your class because she knows best what you're going through. Tho it's only the 4th week into the course, stress is really building up and I now understand why the seniors say, sometimes you get so upset that you asked yourself why are you in this course? No doubt every week, every day is like fighting a battle. I've to keep reminding myself the reason I came into this course. I want to help people, and the only satisfaction I seek and the only thing which pushes me on ahead, is to see the smile on my patient's faces. That's the only motivating factor. I've to keep moving on.. keep moving on.. keep moving on... keep fighting the battle.. keep fighting.. keep fighting!!!!!
Trust in a r/s
Sunday, May 4, 2008 11:25 PM When 2 persons get together and share on a certain issue, it's funny how you can get amazingly extreme different opinions. The other day, Jasmine and I were sharing about trust in a relationship. How much does it really take to build trust in a relationship? Do you trust from the start or does it have to be earned? Well, I'm from the latter grp while she thought that trust should be given. For me, it's much too dangerous to trust someone fr the start, and I don't think I can ever do that. Trust has to be earned, and I still insist on my pov. Perhaps I've been thrg so many bad r/s in the course of my life that I really don't think and don't know how to trust someone right from the start. Trust is really, everything in a r/s..
Not still quite used to it leh..
Saturday, May 3, 2008 6:05 PM ![]() Yesterday, I almost pang-seh Mr. D just because I felt that my hairstyle turned out real badly, and I really felt the need to go back home to hold a mourning session for myself. I figured it was just a case of not getting used to it, probably need some time more to get used to the shorter & funky look. Sorry D, and thank u for yr many patience towards me. =D Things went well for the interview at my neighbour's place earlier on, shall adjourn discussion with my grp and report all that's available to them on Monday. It's gonna be a busy week ahead. Choon Hua just sms-ed me, asking if I am interested to buy sethoscope and blood pressure set for $100, for own practice. I was thinking that I could use it for my parents too, can keep track of their B/P all the time. Oh yeah, perhaps I'm buying, gimme some time to consider. (It's $100 leh, not $10) Anyway, I'm gg to Florence's wedding now. Will be back w more pics. See u guys.
Dresses's measurements for HW's wedding
2:04 PM Just got back from dresses measurements at Tanjong Pagar with the girls, in preparation for Huiwen's wedding in Sept. I chose a very simple looking light purple col dress, since the theme is purple col! It was nice to meet some of the girls for the first time, to think that we've been communicating via email for so long abt the hen's night etc organized specially for Huiwen dearest. They're very nice and sweet people, I like them! Adeline's still so pretty even tho she's pregnant.. Anyway, thanks for the yummy muffin and drinks treat! For now, waiting for Jasmine to arrv at my place before we pop over to my neighbour's place to conduct a child development assessment on her 1.5 yr old toddler. Well, you see.. It's actually reqd for my Family & Comm Health project, which is due soon. *sweats* *counts...* I still have so many projs left.. Ahh! Till then, it's back to my bio sci reading, boring.
