canidrome - dog racing
Monday, September 29, 2008 10:34 PM huimin recommended me a place called "Canidrome" in Macau where it features dog racing. it starts fr 730pm till 12am, and hopefully we'll be able to fit it into our iti.. got a feeling that we're going to be dead beat by the end of this trip. it's almost like amazing race.. but hey, i'm determined to enjoy it. fr wikipedia: The Canidrome (traditional Chinese: 逸園賽狗場), located in Macau Peninsula, is the only greyhound racing stadium in Asia. Over 300 dogs take part in races on each racing day. It has two grandstands, several private boxes and a VIP lounge.     going to pass huimin her camera in hongkong on 4th oct. she was pickpocketed in macau; and lost her digital camera which she placed at the side of her backpack. awww. the moral of the story is, never ever bring a backpack; bring a sling bag and put at the front where it's in visible view..
F1 fever
1:43 PM we also watched 'mirrors mirrors' the movie at toa payoh after a dimsum lunch with my parents. the story came with a twist which we didn't expect; and we kinda liked it. after the movie, i still keep thinking that i'm "in the mirror" hoho.. walked around HDB hub for a while.. there's really nth much there, don't bother to go... sat was spent at east coast park roller blading and cycling.. i totally enjoyed myself for the cycling part, but not quite so for the blading part. the scorching sun at 4pm plus the numerous falls made me very grumpy, really. but luckily, the cool evening weather and cycling saved the day. yeah~     guess that sums up my enjoyable weekend.. :)

Thursday, September 25, 2008 8:57 AM can't wait. it's my 2nd last day of attachment today.. my feet need a rest, badly. blisters everywhere and my ankle is aching so much as though it just had a sprain. countdown starts officially. saw a doctor for my very terrible skin condition; peeling and very scaly skin on my face due to a certain cream which i applied. he gave me a ultra potent cream called colderm or something; and it was very effective; saw the effects only after 1 application; it's getting better! ooo, and i kind of regret the color i chose for my braces brackets yesterday. it's striking lime green color; didn't know that it will have such a contrast between my chocolatey skin and the color. i'm resolved to go to the dentist to change the col again. i'm not going hk and risk taking ugly pictures with this col on my braces. waiting for mom to come back with breakfast. yum yum.

Tuesday, September 23, 2008 4:41 PM goodbye, mdm. today, you were just being transferred to my cubicle. in the morning, you were having a high fever and had cold compress on your forehead. i didn't think anything of it; as fever was quite a common sight. then, i helped you to change your pampers and clear your stools. everything was fine. afterwards, i rushed in and tube-feb you at 10am; feeding was normal. but when the other nurse came to give you your medication, you didn't respond when she kept shaking you and trying to wake you up. she checked your pulse and there wasn't any. then it was, bing bam boom! many staff nurses rushed in to resuscitate you; one of them jumped up onto your bed and did CPR on you. doctors were called and family were told to rush down. then it was an hr of vigorous CPR resuscitation and other methods to revive you. doctors performed CPR on you. then we thought we had you back.. we really thought so. the machine "beep beep beep" steadily.. your family came and i informed the doc that they were here. their eyes were very red and i could see that they had been crying before this. they do not want to see you go.... then it was 3pm. it was time for me to knock off; i thought everything was fine for you; relieved on your behalf. an sms came from my friend that you were gone.. my heart feel very sad inside though i only took care of you for 1 shift. imagine how your family must have felt.. but perhaps for you, its a relief. relief from pain; relief from being a burden; relief from everything. finally, brainstem stroke took you away.. one moment we're here on this earth; the other moment we are not. let's treasure our life on this earth and live our life according to God's purposes; only then is it worth living. all thanks be to God, that i am still alive at this moment now.. life is a gift from God.
huiwen hen's night
4:18 PM thanks to priscilla for sending the pictures; huiwen hen's night pics are finally out. we went mandarin hotel for the very expensive chicken rice which cost $30; though it came with a superb view of the city. then we made the bride find 10 hunks in the busy street in orchard and made her tell them tt she is getting married; weeet!! we even made some kiss her on her hand!      i realise i look real chocolatey besides tina sweets. awww.

cell's mooncake festival celebration
Saturday, September 20, 2008 2:12 PM  cell's mooncake festival celebration happened yesterday evening at west coast park! it was funny celebrating a week later, as the actual was on last sunday. becca, sharon, arlene and myself became lantern patrols; we walked a round in west coast park with our lanterns. many couples who were lovey dopey-ing there turned and stared at us, weird feeling! we played with sparkles too; taking the chance to take interesting pictures with alphabets formed with sparkles. janice formed a -love shape- successfully, how nice! - rewind back to work yesterday, woke up with a heavy heart and dragged myself to work. my day truly went badly though i was busy like a bumble bee. my favorite patient, a small and frail old lady whom i nicknamed "sui char bo" meaning "pretty lady" suddenly turned into "scary lady". she refused to eat for the past few days; it was such a difficult feat trying to feed her food and meds; today was the worst; she spat out her meds at us. we decided to insert NG tube for her; a tube inserted from nose into stomach, used for feeding. the process was a difficult one if the patient doesn't cooperate with us; her job is to swallow, swallow and swallow. she was very agitated and hurled all kinds of vulgarities at us. we restrained her hands; tied to the bed; but still needed us to hold her hands down in case she pull out the tube in e midst of insertion. she cursed and sweared at me since i'm the unlucky one using force to hold down her hands; pinched & hit me. it was really sad as i reflected back; there we were, trying to help her yet all we got, wasn't thanks but endless abuse. but well, i shouldn't blame her.. learn to forgive and forget. she don't mean it, i know. it's just that the process of NG tube insertion hurts & traumatized her. learn to forgive and forget..
mooncake festival celebration

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 10:47 AM over a msn conversation, was updating bro eric about my results and i told him that i have another psychology module next sem; abnormal psych and he remarked that it was a study of mental illnesses. then, eric asked me to analyze mao and see what issues she have...and he casually mentioned the "farmer syndrome" , which really made me burst out laughing.. mao, do u feel like "killing" eric now?
singing doctor's society charity concert
Sunday, September 14, 2008 7:44 PM  yesterday was well spent; accompanied D to a charity concert held at NAFA. D's client, a doctor in NSC, invited him for the concert & so we went! honestly, i didn't expect myself to enjoy the concert, but surprisingly, i did. the concert was titled "voices in harmony" performed by the "singing doctors society" and "baihe ladies singers". it was quite refreshing to spend a sat evening in a concert, rather than doing the usual stuffs like shopping or watching movies.on top of that, we also managed to get our hongkong itinenary done yesterday afternoon! i'm getting the help of huimin to look thrg the iti and see if it's ok, since she's currently in HK till dec; anyway, i feel so productive. well, it's actually D who did most of the work, hiak. thanks, dear! can't wait to go to "The Peak", "Ocean Park", "Ladies market", "Lantau island" etc. *i'm walking on sunshine...*

Wednesday, September 10, 2008 4:56 PM i'm just so glad that time is not all wasted; and managed to use it to meet up with some ppl whom i'hvn been seeing for quite a while. the other day, i met up with grace at the cafe in NUS for a short lil chat, with some nice cakes topped off with ice cream. the chat really made me realised that time has passed very quickly; we are all grown ups now, no longer 17's or 18's lil kids down the block. we're more mature and subject topic always revolves around future plans, marriage & stuffs. it's nice to hear that she's dg well with Gary, another teacher-to-be (still under training in NIE) i've also met up with shenghao for breakfast at mac's before my shift the other day. it's always nice meeting him, you laugh at the stupid jokes and police tales he tell and from a downcast mood, your mood will automatically become better. it's always nice to have him around; and i thank God that i met this bro of mine, in NP.  the other week, finally fulfil my "wish" of meeting my adeka colleagues for a simple claypot rice dinner at clementi with D as well. all my da-jies who took special care of me during my stay in adeka, most grateful to them. heard of the company's ups ups and downs downs; all the unhappiness working there.. there's just so much changes..  the biggest and most exciting event of the last few weeks was huiwen and wenxun's wedding held at st andrew's cathedral new sanctuary. as her jiemeis, we helped to brainstorm-ed ideas that we can use to sabo the brothers and the groom during the gatecrash in the morning. i must say that we're all gullible, take the angbaos from the brothers without even checking the amount. but nevertheless, we had great fun! the brothers managed to break into the hse with the help of huiwen's younger bro. awww..
on saturday, brought my parents for a dinner with D as well as a mooncake celebration event at my church. guest of honour was moses lim; so many turned up, probably e first time i saw wcrc all filled up!! majority was china people, foreign workers and some local families. moses shared his story of how he was banned by mediacorp from appearing on tv for 4 yrs and how God answered his prayer and changed his life.. the altar call response was amazing as well! so many raised their hands & wanted to accept Jesus as their savior. praise God!
still a lil down in the dumps..
Tuesday, September 2, 2008 10:20 PM this week will be my last in surgical ward, moving on to medical ward next week, for anther 3 more weeks before i've my well-deserved break cum holiday in hongkong with dearest. tmr will be on noon shift again, which i really hate. thurs and fri will be on morning shift; loves. anyway, looking forward to the endless meet-ups with my dearest friends, starting fr tmr. will be meeting shenghao for breakfast tmr morning b4 i report for work at 1230. thurs, will be a quick chillout session aft shift with grace at NUS. fri, will be meeting my dear dumb dumb cousins in town for a dinner at nihon mura. and most probably, mon will be meeting my schmates! my mood is still a lil down in the dumps now tho, probably PMS. i'll be fine tmr, cheers. and i whld like to wish my dearest mao mao an early HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY!!!! im so sorry that i chldnt celebrate w u tmr due to my shift. i promise to make up to u!! loves. enjoy your dinner with the girls.. muacks..
