I couldn't sleep last night due to over-excitement due to the next day being my 1st day attachment. Tossing & turning all night, it wasn't easy for me to drift off to dreamland finally. I woke a few times in between the night; i had a very bad restless sleep. I woke again at 6am; to bathe, prepare & have a good breakfast. Reached Yishun Int @ 7.27am; slightly late in meeting my girl-pals.

In conclusion, my 1st day experience was slightly below average; very tiring; and very boring as student nurses are only observers. 8 of us, split into pairs and we went into diff units for the day. Today, I was attached to Developmental Assessment unit & Counselling unit. Witnessed Nurse Tok assessing the developmental milestone of kids/babies; gross motor/fine motor and also observed some asthma & diabetics counselling session by Nurse Lee.

However, at some parts, it wasn't really a nice experience because most nurse's faces was so black and they probably didn't acknowledge our existence in the room. Some were quite reluctant to answer questions. It just felt awkward; why would nurses treat student nurses this way? Weren't they student nurses in the past before? Yes, I vow not to treat student nurses like this in future.

I'm so tired tht I can fall into a coma right now, and I would seriously do so after dinner. And it probably doesn't help that I'm missing D quite a fair bit now. But well, let me look forward to a better tomorrow. I'll be attached to Women's care unit tmr; hope to witness Pap Smear/Intrauterine procedures; my luck better be good.
