Tuesday, April 7, 2009 10:56 PM i was web-caming with my bro when i got really fed up with my HP mini's webcam - why? it was too dark, and the other party really couldn't see me at all. i thus complained to my techno-savvy cousin and asked her if there was any solution. she's quick, immediately helped to google bt it & pasted a no. of websites which offer explainations on why my webcam's like that.. it turns out that there's a dark film placed behind the webcam in the manufacturing process by HP, for reasons which we do not know. it's probably to protect the webcam? and many users of HP mini, incld myself, have faced problems of the webcam being too dark.. and thus, according to a website which xiaohan provided, the solution was to open up the casing & use a tweezer to get the dark film out. it initially sounded all too risky to me, as there might be possibility that the LCD screen might crack or smth in e process. but i was really too fed up with my webcam to care, and i decided to just go ahead with it. and thus, with the help of toothpicks & a few repeats of the Youtube "how to open HP casing", i managed to get it out. though, i scratched the cover a little, but not noticeable. for curiosity sake, if you're interested to know the process of taking out the dark film, please click here for a video demostration. anyway, here's a screen shot of me, my dogs & my family web-caming with my bro who's in Beijing at this moment, enjoying his life. (web-cam is black & white/blurred/dark, before being repaired by me) PS: the dog in the screen is not my beautiful beauty, she's rosy, a dog extra who happened to pass by on e set.
